Of Counsel
Shelby is a forceful and highly skilled advocate for clients throughout the litigation process, including in the courtroom. Before joining Flood Law, Shelby served for a decade as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Alexandria, Virginia, prosecuting thousands of cases including homicides, white-collar crimes, vice narcotics, and other felonies. In this role she virtually lived in the courtroom, handling over 100 jury trials and many other hearings and bench trials.
Shelby also works tirelessly to help clients avoid legal disputes and to help them successfully resolve such disputes when possible. Shelby honed her skills in this regard while working as Deputy Town Attorney for Leesburg, Virginia. In that position, she advised the town as a municipal corporation in all aspects of its daily business including employment matters focusing on ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and employee grievances.
In addition to serving clients as a member of the team with Flood Law, Shelby was recently appointed to serve as the Town Attorney for Lovettsville, Virginia.
Shelby has a B.A. in Spanish from Mary Washington College (prior to it becoming the University of Mary Washington) in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She earned her J.D. from The Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., while she worked full-time at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She is admitted to practice in Virginia.
Shelby lives in Loudoun County, Virginia, with her husband, two daughters, and a rambunctious Labrador Retriever. She spends time volunteering for her neighborhood’s association, and for fun Shelby likes to cook meals from around the world and keep physically active with her family.
